JOY WARMANN • SECRETLY GROUP
PANEL TOPICS – HOW TO RELEASE MUSIC AS AN INDEPENDENT ARTIST
After graduating from Aston University with a BSc in Psychology & Business, Joy’s taken the time to embed herself in the UK music industry. Currently, if she’s not at a gig or festival, she’s working as a European Project Manager at Secretly Group or building a community and creators’ fund with Imaginary Millions. At Secretly Group, she oversees projects for artists such as serpentwithfeet, Faye Webster, Claud, MUNA and more. Within the community at Imaginary Millions she’s able to dig deeper into the grassroots of performers’ careers and ultimately tries to shine a spotlight on everyone’s creativity.
Prior to this, Joy worked as an Artist Liaison at O2 Music, researching and casting talent in online creative content. All this after working within HR for Adidas Group at their HQ in Herzogenaurach, Germany, and with multi-national Supermarket chain Coles in Melbourne, Australia. It’s safe to say Joy’s had to wear a lot of different hats to get to where she is today. She also has freelance experience in corporate copywriting, research, social media management, and radio presenting as one third of radio collective, Melatrois, or on the Imaginary Millions show on Soho Radio.
Beyond work, Joy’s spent time learning an instrument, playing drums as part of a band, editing her own music blog, curating music events, writing analytically about the industry, attending hundreds of gigs and festivals, and generally just being a music nerd.
