Andy McCluskey is a founder member, lead singer and songwriter in the group Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. He has achieved 60 global gold and platinum album and single awards and has three Ivor Novello Award nominations. The group's music has been featured on several major film soundtrack recordings including Ex Machina, Pretty in Pink and Waltz with Bashir.
OMD continue to play live at major global music concerts, headlining the 2015 UK/Mexican Dual Year festival in Guadalajara, Rewind, Let's Rock and Munich City festivals. The band completed a 100 date sell out tour of UK, Europe and North America in 2017/18. In February 2015 OMD performed at the Dresden Peace Prize awards on the 70th anniversary of the bombing of that city where Andy delivered a speech outlining how music had helped to heal the wounds of history and build bonds of tolerance and understanding. OMD have sold in excess of 15 million albums and 25 million singles. The most recent album, 'Punishment of Luxury' reached number 4 in the UK chart.
Andy has also performed with The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra in Liverpool, at the Liverpool Night as part of the 2010 Shanghai Expo, and again in October 2018 as part of OMD's 40th anniversary celebration.
He is a frequent contributor to, and reviewer for, BBC Radio 4 Front Row Programme and regular interviewee and commentator for television documentaries, books, and radio programmes on musical history and popular culture.
