Friday 28th April
16:00 - 16:45
PHASE ONE
The gender balance within the music industry has been a burning issue for many years now with some festivals, labels and businesses arguing that the gender imbalance in programming is just a reflection of the market while others argue that it is the responsibility of leading industry organisations to enact positive change and address the glaring imbalance. Yet, how do these issues present themselves in the international music scene?
On this panel, we will explore the differing issues in gender balance in the music industry in a range of international territories, how these issues can be addressed and how female artists can best navigate the international music sector to maximise their opportunities. We will be joined by Joe Frankland of PRS, Paul Jatayna from Elephant in the Philippines, Malfi Dorantes of Mexico’s Malfi Co, Maria Gironas, Woman in Music and Francine Gorman from our partners Keychange, a global network and movement working towards gender equality in the music industry.
