From being a world renowned DJ and producer, to owning his own record label, from hosting a weekly radio show to becoming an events organiser, Liverpool’s Godfather of House and Techno, Yousef has been involved in nearly every area of the music industry. His legendary Circus event held regularly in Liverpool has become entrenched in the city’s culture, championing the finest House and Techno for 15 years. Circus is now embarking on its first worldwide tour bringing its vibrant energy to London, New York, Sydney, LA, Barcelona, Berlin, Milan, Paris and more!
Integral in this success story, is close friend and still Chibuku/ENRG/Circus promoter, Rich McGinnis. Turning down a start with Anderson Consulting for a career in music, Richard started his journey with club giants Cream in Ibiza. From there came Chibuku and Circus which, in turn, lead to working with James and Scott Barton more closely booking Creamfields during a transformative period for the festival . He then became a founding partner and co-booker at The Warehouse Project and Parklife as well as consulting on some of the UKs best festivals. Rich has become one of the highest regarded promoters in the world in electronic music, working on countless projects in the city as well as organising high profile events for BBC Radio 1, MTV, Fabric to name just a few.
In a unique, two-way interview between two of the key figures in Liverpool’s club scene, Yousef and Rich will give insight into the music industry on the other side of midnight and discuss the rise of Circus, how to build a successful club night, and how the roles of performer and promoter are forever intertwined, working endlessly together to host the shows we love.
