Erin Tonkon is a New York based producer, engineer, and mixer.
She began engineering at the young age of sixteen. While attending NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, she studied under the likes of vetted producers Bob Power and Nicholas Sansano. It is during this time that Erin began her six years working as an engineer and production assistant to legendary rock producer Tony Visconti.
Erin’s close work alongside Visconti introduced her to David Bowie, a relationship which culminated in engineering, mixing and performing backing vocals on Bowie’s Grammy award-winning final album,“Blackstar”. Her other credits include everyone from master jazz instrumentalist and vocalist, Esperanza Spalding to legendary punk icons, The Damned.
Most recently, Erin has produced the new album by Lady Lamb and mixed the forthcoming release from 4AD’s PIXX. She is also co-founding a new company that includes multiple recording studios, a membership club, and a venue set to open in 2020. Its mission is to build a community of musicians and music producers in New York City and ensure their success through proven networking strategy, for years to come.
