Andy McCluskey is a music industry veteran; an accomplished singer, songwriter and public speaker. As the lead singer of Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark as well as the co-founder and co-songwriter of Atomic Kitten he has demonstrated his exceptional talent for writing hits. He has earned 60 gold and platinum album and single awards and sold over 15 million albums and 25 million singles. OMD continue to play live at major global music concerts, completing a 100 date sell out tour of UK, Europe and North America in 2017/18. Their most recent album ‘Punishment of Luxury’ reached number 4 in the UK chart.
As well as the impressive sales record, Andy’s work has received an abundance of critical acclaim including 3 Ivor Novello Award nominations and the honour of speaking about the healing power of music at the Dresden Peace Prize awards in 2015. He is keen for the world to recognise the influence that music can have on a personal and global level and the social development that it can initiate. Thus, he is now part of the new Liverpool music board and regularly appears on TV and Radio shows, such as BBC Radio 4 Front Row, to discuss musical history and popular culture.
He will be arriving at Sound City+ this May for a unique conversation with Trashed TV. The session will explore Andy’s extraordinary music career, the techniques behind writing a hit single and how we can put our own stamp on the music industry to ensure that it continues to innovate and evolve in the years to come.
