Wirral Foodbank is a local charity operating across 14 sites throughout the metropolitan borough of Wirral. They provide emergency food support to local people in crisis. In 2018, 15,280 people in Wirral received emergency food, a 35% increase on 2017. Wirral Foodbank provide ambient food to individuals and families, sufficient for three days.
In addition to emergency food support their 14 centres signpost people to support agencies, where additional help can be offered. They have a dedicated Citizens Advice adviser, based across a number of their centres, offering support and advice with benefits, housing, debts and other issues. It’s not right that anyone in Wirral has to rely on emergency support from foodbanks; thus, Wirral Foodbank believe that by providing “more than food support” they can remove the need for individuals to use the Foodbank at all.
